Last summer I saw a poster for a MI AMI concert, read a brief review that likened the singer's vocal technique to the results of a painful testicular accident and took a punt on a £6 ticket to go and see a band in North London. It was such a rewarding gamble, I saw them one more time that summer and have waited a whole year to come back to the UK.
There's f-all online that I can show you of them. The video above gives you a little idea of them live and maybe I can stick some recordings up here but it can't transmit the live experience. Every time I've seen them they begin with a standard London gig crowd, minor nodding, some chatting, etc. and end with a wonderful rhythmic riot.
They can seemingly suck an entire crowd in leading them to slowly cast off inhibitions and to dance and sweat and scream. Only three people (see the Liars entry) make this happen not through a barrage of rock cliches or dumb trickery but with some kind of rhythmic voodoo. Again I'm pretty crap at talking about music I like and this I really loved. If you can go and see this band, then you really must.
